HYPHEN's

 Story

Hyphen had an usual start in rap music - he worked in finance. Depressed and feeling a lack of purpose, Hyphen was looking for a way to express himself. His new found love of rap music helped deal with depression and found a new sense of purpose. He is now one the BBC Futuresounds artists for 2020.

Having been tipped as ‘The Future of British Asian Hip-Hop’ by BBC Asian Network, been featured in the London Evening Standard, BBC Radio 6 with Tom Robinson, BBC Music Introducing and GRM Daily Hyphen returns with his new single in June

Uniquely in the world of rap, Hyphen performs alongside a 6-piece Jazz band.

His performances caught the eye of BBC Introducing, who selected Hyphen to perform at Reading and Leeds Festival in 2019.  He has also taken the stage at legendary venues such as Ronnie Scott's.

He's also his music to spread a positive impact, raising over £6.5k at a show he played and organised for New Horizons a charity that works to alleviate homelessness in London. He also performed for Sanctus, a mental health charity, to raise awareness for depression in young men - given how close an issue it is to his heart.
